Cable Chain Stitch Tutorial
The cabled chain stitch is a nice decorative stitch that can be further embellished with French knots.
Begin by drawing a guide line with an air or water erasable marker.
Bring your needle and thread up on the right side of the drawn line.
Lay your needle parallel to the drawn line and then wrap the thread around it as shown below.
Insert the needle into the drawn line approximately 1/8” from the starting point. Pull your thread up to make it snug.
Bring the needle back up about 1/4” from the insertion point and then wrap the thread around the end of the needle. Pull the thread through.
Repeat the stitch until you reach the end of your drawn line and then make a simple tacking stitch at the end.
Add additional embellishment with French knots in the center of each of the links.
Add even more stitches to make a decorative border.
Happy Stitching!
